Khaana Chaahiye

We have supplied ration to families in various parts of Mumbai including Andheri west, Mahul, Vile Parle west etc, and in the process we have covered about hundred of families.

Our team is busy supplying cooked food to poor and homeless. Under the vision of Project Mumbai, currently, there is a supply of more than 70 thousand meals everyday by the team of which we are important partner.

Problem Statement

More people are going to suffer and die of starvation, rather than the actual COVID virus

The Covid-19 national lockdown is arguably the biggest and most daunting challenge facing the invisible crowds of Mumbai City in its entire history.

With up to 5 lakh of them on the street today, Mumbai has a larger migrant and homeless population than Delhi.

With no shelter or income for the foreseeable future, their life hangs in the balance. Hunger might kill them before Covid-19.

Intervention

Project Khaana Chaahiye? is a project by Bharat Uttan Sangh to crowdsource and verify demand in various parts of Mumbai during the COVID Crisis, and efficiently streamline supply courtesy of its institutional donor partners to fulfill this pressing demand we will crowdsource need and supply at KhaanaChahiye.Com

Progress

We started with feeding the homeless under the Western Express Highway between Bandra and Dahisar (2000) and 1000 people in Kalbhadevi. we’ve mobilised food, permissions, and funding to start distribution there.

Who are the food angels?

The supply consists of Restaurants, Flight Kitchens, Caterers, Charitable Institutions with excess Kitchen Capacity who are ready to activate themselves to produce food at scale (1000+ meals per day) and supply the food at-cost (Rs 20-30 per meal).
